An Offshore Development Center (ODC) is a dedicated development center, located outside the client's premises, solely engaged in developing, testing and deploying software solutions and applications, most often in a country outside the client's country.
The purpose of an ODC is to let the clients focus on their core value competencies, while taking advantage of U-TO's technological expertise, and thereby dramatically reducing the client's expenses. It has been proven to be a successful delivery model for providing clients an extension arm for their engineering facilities. It works as a combination of onsite and offshore model to clients.

For companies, departments, and programs lacking the time or resources to build their own ODC, U-TO offers dedicated infrastructure and human resources within an established, India-based facility.
Models of establishing ODC
With over four years' experience on offshore software outsourcing, U-TO provides the following basic ODC Management structure for its customers.
Customer Managed, Dedicated Offshore Development Center
Under this model, U-TO provides the resources and infrastructure for the customer to manage the ODC by their senior level management, responsible for project management and deliverables. These ODC's adopt the customer specific business practices, processes, methodologies, quality management, and technical expertise pure based on the client need and prevalent practices. This model works at a partner level relationship between the customer and U-TO with high level of commitments to ODC from both sides.
     Build Operate and Transfer (BOT)
This model is a logical extension to the above model. Under this model, U-TO builds a dedicated ODC for the customer and manages for a certain period and transfers the knowledge of ODC operations to the customer. With predefined schedules, U-TO transfers all the ODC resources, infrastructure, operational knowledge, etc to the customer to operate as an independent entity.
     Joint Venture
This model is a pure partnership approach with a long-term understanding, where U-TO and the customer fund the ODC jointly with stake from either side. It is a mutual investment in each other's business and growth.
U-TO Managed, Dedicated Offshore Development Center
Under this model, U-TO manages the resources, infrastructure, projects and deliverables to the customer from the ODC. The Customer allocates tasks and manages reviews. All processes including the development processes and quality management systems and standards are deployed as per U-TO best practices. However, at every phase U-TO takes the customer's key inputs before implementation.
To setup an Offshore Development Center (ODC) as a seamless extension of your software development facilities, U-TO follows the following steps:
